IWMPFolderMonitorServices startScan inconsistent and scan events

Using ATL C++ and windows media player 11.

The startScan method of IWMPFolderMonitorServices does not seem to work
correctly if I add a media folder that previously existed.

Scenerio

1. Add folder :d:\test
2. Remove folder d:\test
3. Add folder d:\test
4. startScan on folders via startScan method

Library does not get updated with media in d:test.

5. Copy d:\test to d:\test55
6. Startscan - media library gets updated correctly.

The folderscanstatechange events do not seem correct either.
Sometimes I get 2 stops (wmpfssStopped) and sometimes I get a stopped,
updating and then a stopped. I never get a scanning and I would not expect to
get two stops in a row.

Any insights greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian
