I have had, and corrected this problem.
I first noticed that it was "correctable" when
ONE of my video editors gladly accepted, and properly
played and transcoded a dvx5/wm9 encoded file that
even windows media player would not properly view.
so I searched the installables for that particular editor
and found that it came with a "decoder pack" which
included a better suited audio decoder. I do not
know the technical details, but once I searched the web
for a generic set of "codecs" which included this
particular "4C's" in their packing list, ALL MY VIDEO
EDITORS SUDENLY WERE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS, AND OTHER
PROBLEMATIC COMPRESSED VIDEOs in the DVx4-5 "custom"
encoded high resolution (from DVD) type of files.
no matter what your computer tells you, go ahead and
install thESE file(S), and retry it.
(MOST OF THESE PACKS HAVE ABILITY TO LET YOU SELECT
WHICH ONES YOU WANT, SO FIRST RUN THE GSPOT APPLIANCE
TO FIND OUT THE 4C CODE BY DRAGGING AND DROPPING YOUR
PROBLEM FILE ONTO THE GSPOT ICON AFTER INSTALLING GSPOT,
BUT BEFORE INSTALLING ANY OF THE CODECS. IF GSPOT SAYS YOU
ALREADY HAVE A SUITIBLE CODEC INSTALLED(likely because you
DO get a choppy result now), then uninstall ALL your
current codecs(look for the unistall codecs utility
included an many of the packs) and choose the biggest pack
and install it!
