I played a VCR thru my DVD player and recorded the program on a DVD-R disc
When it was over I allowed the DVD player to do whatever it had to do
(there was a Wait message) before ejecting the disc.
The disc plays fine on one desktop running Windows XP (it plays in Windows
Media Player, Sonic CineViewer and PowerDV)
On all other machines (laptop with Windows XP, desktop with Vista, laptop
with Win7), the disc is reported as being empty!
But I need to show the DVD in a church basement and would like to take a
laptop not the desktop.
What did I do wrong or What steps can I take to remedy things?
Many thanks for any help

If it plays on one comp the disc must have been closed/finalised, that was
probably the Wait you experienced.
As a test/trial, on the laptop using Google search for VLC Media Player
which is a free media player. Download and install it and try it. VLC plays
virtually any file type. If it will not play the file then you may have to
go back and do another record and ensure that it does close the DVD.
