**** please read my footnote first****
First I go to the main NASA TV page:
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html, which has the imbedded
media player which plays fine.
From there, I clicked this link under "other viewing options.":http://www.nasa.gov/55644main_NASATV_Windows.asx. But all that happens is it
changes to a fullscreen view in the same browser tab.
What I would like, and used to get on my old system, is to have a new WMP
session independent of the browser, playing the same feed.
*****Okay, while writing this post, I see that it works fine in IE7. I just
had to download an active x control. I had been using Opera since I had
NASAon my speed dial page. I will just switch to using IE7 for that. I
apologise for having wasted your time, but I appreciate your help anyway.

Ignore that - that's just part of the signature.
What's the exact URL you were trying to play? I don't want to hunt poorly
and compare using the wrong URL. =)

I appreciate your reply. I went to your site and read the section on WMP
11.
Since this is a new computer with a fresh install of everything, nothing
is
crashing, and there are no AV quality issues, I don't plan to delete any
of
those files right now. It's mostly just an inconvenience, but I do like
to
tinker, so if I get time to play with it, I'll go back and try some of
those
suggestions. I have added no plugins, so I may not even find some of the
files you refer to.

Tonight I watched the first shuttle launce since I've gotten my new
Vista
machine with WMP 11.0. On my old XP computer (now FUBAR), I could go
to
the
NASA TV page and an imbedded WMP would start automatically. Then I
could
click the link: "Other Viewing Options" and select WMP, and a
stand-alone
instance of media player would open, independent of the browser. Not
on
the
new system though, it just goes to full screen, still in the browser
window
replacing the original page.
The pop-out is the preferable way to watch the spacewalks too, since it
frees up the browser, or even lets me close the browser and still have
WMP
running. I use both Opera and IE7. I looked all through the
preferences
but
found nothing. Any ideas about that?
Thanks
