When the player itself starts. Once it starts responding again, it runs
normally... provided I don't close it out.
Currently, I have about 1500 MP3s in my library, and some podcasts not on my
Zen player.
Right now, I'm going to add WMP to my startup group so it'll be ready when
my system finishes booting. I just need to remember to NOT close it.
Thx!

The unresponsiveness comes right as media player starts. The video/audio
still plays, but the player itself stops responding to key/mouse commands.
Process explorer shows "Not Responding" as the player takes 25% of the CPU.
When Media Player itself starts, or when each track starts?
My WMP11 goes through a period of "Not responding" for about a minute
when it first starts up, but presumably that is just reading the catalog
(which will be slow because it's on my C: drive, and my system is also
just starting) or reading the media files (which will be relatively
slow; it's a USB drive). I just accept this. It always comes up in
"Songs" mode, and I know it's ready for business when the first album
visible is "Back in Black" (AC/DC). Before I got that album it used to
be "Reflections" by Acker Bilk. :-)
