Re: WMP 11 - No sync, EVER...please?

I don't mean to slight you and your feelings. That's why I put "minor" in
quotes showing that it's one possible value judgement.

I don't know if you've tried Windows 7 relative to this experience, but that
might or might not be an improved experience relative to this.

GAH!

This is *exactly* the question I was looking for an answer to, and to see
it
denigrated as a ""minor" *feature request*" is extrememly annoying. I
really, really don't want WMP to try to copy files to every Tom, Dick or
Harry device I plug into my PC, and to have to explicitly say so every
time
is almost as bad as the UAC...

I believe that something similar to this was added for WMP12/Windows 7 -
I
think Sinofsky's latest "beta to RC changes" post mentions something like
this.

The chances of a "minor" *feature request* making it back to the "old"
Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP player are slim to none, I'm sorry
to
say. Product support requests (and Watson crashes) are what drive the
bulk
of work upon the older code, and I've never heard that this was perceived
to
be a major issue.

The problem is that adding a global no means either adding some registry
key/policy that would be hard to discover or adding some new UI which
would
require localization, both of which would be pretty painful/limited
solutions. It's more valuable to Do It Right in the "live" code. =\
