Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

It is showing Version 11.0.5721.5230, but I think it is somehow thinking
that it is 6.XXXXX.

Is there a way to uninstall the 6.xxxx version?

Thanks again.

OK let's try this : Go back to the menus.

Click Help -> About windows media player (or similar).
Does it indicate version something like 6.4.xxxx ?

That could only occur on XP (the only windows with both WMP11 and
WMP6.4 available for it side by side), so should never happen on Vista

Thanks for the reply Neil,

Unfortunately it didn't work.

If you pull the menu down (view), there isn't even an option for skin mode
anymore. Most of the menus are just not there, or don't work. There is an
option for Enhancements, but none of them come up when you clidk on it. It
really has just become a basic player.

As I said I uninstalled/reinstalled, but it still comes up the same. My
guess is I need to remove some other files during the uninstall so I get a
clean install when I try and put it back. Any ideas?

Thanks again

Hi,

My version of media player 11 has gone basic on me. It appears as the
orinal basic Media player with none of the WMP 11 tabs, or screens showing up.

No Library, no visualisations, no enhancements show up.

Try pressing CTRL + 1 or CTRL + 2 keys together while you're using
media player. It sounds like it's in Skin mode which would look like a
small, basic player. The full list of keyboard shortcuts are here :

CTRL + 1 should switch it back to "full player mode" which is what you
want by the sound of it.
