Re: Media Player 10 dosen't play some files after upgrade from MP9

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Click "Web Help" on that error message - what is the *URL* it takes you to
that you see in the address bar... ?
This kind of sounds like the file association for those file types is set
incorrectly... ?

Hi Zachd, The file types are both wma and mp3. When I select the files
they
are skipped and a red x appears next to the file. If I left click the file
I
get the "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in
use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored,
or
your proxy settings might not be correct." message. If I right click and
open
file location these files are printed in green.
I think the problem is how do I obtain whatever rights I lost when I
reinstalled Windows? I don't know how to do this.

Thanks

I just reinstalled XP and upgraded to Media Player 10. Some of my files
no
longer play. The Title and Type comes up but Artist, Genre and Time are
missing on these files. These files were working in MP9. They were also
playable in MP11 before I did the XP reinstall (I didn't do that
installation
so I don't know what was done to the player). Is there a patch or
something I
need to install? Someone please help.
