Did you use the latest Realtek driver from their web site?
This does indeed sound like a hardware / driver problem and not a WMP-centric problem. =\

Speaking for myself only.
See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.

Windows media player (11 and 10) keep playing up when i use them.
After about 10 seconds into any song, the entire computer sound fails
and the computer needs to be rebooted to restore it.
When the sound fails, the computer lags up a lot - Task manager shows
the system idle process at 100% CPU for about 5 seconds.
I've reinstalled Windows Media Player 11, and even downgraded it to
Windows Media Player 10; but this hasent helped it.
I tried installing the audio driver for the sound device built into my
computer, Realtek 5.1 ch, but it didnt help.
http://www.simac-gmbh.de/Simac/Winfast_MB.htm - This is my motherboard
specifications. (it's the bottom one)
The computer doesent contain any aditional sound cards, and i have AC3
Filter installed.
I've tried everything I can think of, if anyone can help me i'd be
grateful.
