I have a clean, from scratch, installation of Vista Ultimate 32-bit. The
only changes were from Microsoft updates.
And now you're attempting to sync to some unidentified third party device,
it would seem. You haven't begun explaining your issue in this thread as
far as I'm aware. I myself am not really into sync, so have tended to stay
away from those questions. Support can be brutally difficult because
Microsoft provides you with a pretty open system, so you start introducing
new external devices that may or may not be well tested.
And you wonder why people are looking for alternative solutions?
I don't think I personally care about how where or why people look for
solutions. It's the part where they have *any problem whatsoever* that
drives me crazy. That's what I'm interested in solving. I put up a WMP FAQ
and try to help out. I'm not King of the World and don't know how much
better I personally can do. If you want to address Me personally about how
I can improve, I'm all ears. If it's about Microsoft's plans: they aren't
under my control.
I'm against failure. =)
And, if I am correct, this is a Microsoft Supported, and approved, Forum
for
us to find solutions. Is it not?
I think you're misreading it:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/conduct/default.mspx
And, the link I provided was also a Microsoft Supported, and approved,
Tech
Net Forum. So, how can you say "That's a bad thread full of confusion and
levels of misinformation and people acting without understanding what's
going
on."? Isn't that insulting your peers?
Really? Have you really read that thread and tried to make sense of it?
The general title "Windows media player not working!!!!!(vista)" and it
involves about 8-15 different issues with about seven different proposed
solutions all of which address specific issues and most of which are covered
by Microsoft KB articles which are rephrased in partial form in that thread
leaving out critical details, such as *when you would want to apply those
specifics steps*. For example the last Indiv fix proposed - that's from a
KB article and is destructive. Knowing when to apply it is as important as
knowing how to do it.
I have the utmost level of respect for people helping people. I don't see
any Microsoft personnel in that particular thread, and it's an utter
disorganized mishmash as it stands.
There's some excellent and loving people in there, many very bright. That
does not change the fact that it's a badly organized thread. Problems and
solutions should generally be organized on a one-to-one basis or at the
least a category-by-category basis. For example, if it's a great thread,
why does it not solve your problem? =)
I respect you and your time and would hope for better for you than that
thread.
