Hello,
I too have had the same problem. I've had the computer ~1 month. In
the first month WMP played all files. Now all a sudden, it will not play
WMV files. I tried your fix (under admin mode) and could not get the
WMPASF.dll to work nor the WMPCORE.dll either. Also, after performing a
search, neither is even on the computer, anywhere. However, when I did
my sfc, no problems were found. Any suggestions?

Running the specific commands for individual dlls failed on
wmpasf.dll
wmpcore.dll
The error for both stating [dll] failed to load, make sure binary is
in specific path or debug ..."
What next?[/color]
We'd need a list of files in the CBS log file which can be matched
against common WMP components.
The fact you can't register those files might be because I missed off
a step : On Vista, you have to run those commands as Administrator
(you'd be operating as a regular user account)
This page indicates the difference : right-click cmd.exe icon to
choose "Run As Administrator"

Once you've repeated those steps, try to post the cbs.log file where
there are lines which indcate corruption or failure - Notepad or Word
will let you search for similar failures.
I'm rather hoping ZachD (who posts on this group) might have some
