Vertical lines

I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 running WinXp sp3 with media player 9. When
viewing a video full screen there are several vertical lines on the right
side of the player, kind of like "snow" on an old tv.The lines cover about
1/6 of the screen. They are only there at full screen. I tried media player
11 but reverted back to 9. I tried all settings I could find but no help.
