Thanks for the update, I hadn't reaslised some of the Nero stuff
causes problems at that level - I usually don't install all the cruft,
just some of the core burning stuff.
FWIW my guess if the AC3Filter was installed by Administrator, then
all accounts would have that flow through to them (in your case it
sounds like you had to install it twice to get the right result)
In case you're wondering, DVD audio is normally AC3 Audio, that is -
Dolby Digital surround sound. Only a few DVDs, usually home made /
burned ones use PCM which is an alternative but usually stereo.
So some users homebrew DVDs will "work" but commercial ones may not.

Here's a little bit of follow up... It might shed some
light on why Tiger Lady might have had continuing
problems... When I log off as a Windows "Administrator",
to my usual lower level "Power User" account, the audio
no longer works even though the AC3 filter indeed
appears in the Power User's Codec list. This, I think, IS a
"Nero Problem". Nero is quite a pain in the neck this way...
It really doesn't work right unless you're logged in as
an Administrator. For safety, I log in 99% of the time
as a Power User... However, the audio didn't work
even on the Administrator account until downloading
the AC3 filter, so THANKS AGAIN for that! :-)
Meanwhile, when I transcode my Windows Moviemaker
videos using Nero (because Moviemaker won't do that),
I've got to log in as an Administrator. Same thing when
using Nero to back up to a DVD, which Windows Back-Up
won't do... As I have now discovered, with your esteemed
and appreciated assistance, I need to log in as an
Administrator to use WMP11 to play DVD videos...
FWIW, Nero WILL play the DVD video acceptably on the
Power User account using Nero Showtime, so this is my
most practical option. I just wanted to know why WMP11
wouldn't do it! :-) Now I know, it seems...
Thanks again for your wisdom...
