What audio card? Have you checked for update drivers for that sound card from the sound card vendor?

On my laptop, Windows Media Player 11 takes 15 seconds or more to start
playing an mp3 music file. The Media Player window opens immediately when the
music file is double clicked, but the delay is in the start of music actually
playing, just a blank white window in the player during this time.
If the song is finished and i click another file with Media player already
open, the delay is the same. I did a clean install of OS, running only
windows updates (including WMP 11), so I'm sure no other programs are causing
this.
Any ideas how to make it play instantly like it does on my other Vista
computers with same version?

Windows Vista Home Premium
