When I try to open media player it does nothing. This also happens when I
try to play them from my music folder. I click on the play button or try to
bring it up through the start menu and the cursor pointer turns into a circle
for a split second and then nothing happens.

How exactly did it stop working? Fixing that problem might be doable. =)

Why are you trying to install Media Player? If you are not on an "N"
system, systems which do not have any version of the Media Player
installed,
then you cannot reinstall the player. This is because you are attempting
to
use the older XP version of the player which is not fully compatible with
Windows Vista.
