Re: Syncing to a portable hard drive

The player will only recognize it as a "device" to sync to if the drive has a supported driver for it. It seems to not have that and thus this wouldn't work, as you're noting.

I have the same problem as Pokerick and I will try to give more details.

-In my car I have a Pioneer car stereo that access a portable HDD.
-The Pioneer can only access wma-files under a certain bitrate (which I
don't remember at the moment.)
-When i connect the portable HDD to my computer it shows up as a drive wit a
letter as name, but I want it to be recognized as a device and use the sync
function in WMP.

This is because the process of first locating, then degrading the wma file
from lossless and then copying it to the portable hdd is not what I call
smooth.

This is my reason to wanting the hdd to be treated as a device. I don't
know what Pokerick's is but I think we want the same to happen hen we connect
the portable hdd to the computer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Sync" in this context.
Does the drive appear in windows explorer with a drive letter ?

You should be able to Rip music from CDs to a folder on that drive,
and to monitor folders there too (so the music shows up in your
library)

To rip the content to that drive, go to the small dropdown menu under
the Rip music tab, click More Options and ensure the folder to rip to
is set to that drive (click Browse... to change the selection of
folders to rip to)

To monitor that folder for additions of media, press F3 to bring up
the search for media dialog. Click Advanced and add the drive's media
folder to the list of folders WMP watches for media content.
