If your system didn't have quartz.dll, your system was corrupted and the player would never have worked on your system. That's a base file for any normal Windows system. =\

Speaking for myself only.
See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.

In addition, I found out that there was no quartz.dll in my computer.
I had to google, download and save it into C:\WINDOWS\system32 first.
Only then register.
I think MS could check WMP11 compliance together with Nokia, Samsung etc. ...

I had same problem with my Acer 3103 laptop with Realtek audio and WMP 11.
I made same steps as you: uninstalled media player, updated audio drivers,
removed RTSP/UDP, RTSP/TCP, etc.
No help. No audio or video format was played.
Real player gave a hint: quartz.dll missing.
These posts advised to register that file to windows,
to do that: click start>run and type: regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\quartz.dll
For me, that helped!
I also have Nokia PC Suite installed, maybe that has something to do with
this problem (as similar Samsung program seems to have). They both have their
own media players...
