I'm about to take off on vacation, so I might not see it for a week or so,
but yes, that list that I asked for would potentially be valuable. Like
sifting for gold .=\

And if you uninstall the plug-in temporarily (as opposed to just disabling
it), does that get this working?

It says under plug-ins: Background Bluetooth Headset Plugin
and nothing else. Could it be cause by a Video Codecs ? The list is a long
one. I will post if you need to see it.

Hopefully it'd be under the plug-in section.

What are the results of WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information
menu
tool?

If it is a third party plug-in how do I find and remove it? I do not
see
any
in the plug in section of WMP. The only plug in I've ever had installed
was
DIVX. I have removed it but it is still there.

Hi Neil,

I have tried your solutions and they didn't help. Those strange
symbols
are
still there. Do you have any other ideas for a cure ??

If you go to the Start menu, choose Run then in the box type CMD

Press enter, and in the command window, type

sfc /scannow

Press enter, and wait for that to complete.

Hopefully it will repair the localisation file and other damaged
files. The localisation file contains menu descriptions
(wmploc.dll)
in your system language - probably English - however you may also
need to re-run WMP setup using this command (still in the CMD
prompt
window) :

c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP
