My Canon camera shoots very good movies in AVI format. Until recently, I
could play these movies in WMP11 on my Vista laptop. WMP11 will still play
the older movies but will not play the movies I took starting 2 weeks ago,
same camera, same card. I thought that maybe they became corrupted on the
card but I can play them in QuickTime so I know they are ok.
I am guessing that there might have been an update that screwed this up but
why will the older movies play and not the newer ones?

Re: OT Tivo, DVD, blu ray? What do I need? ... If you really get addicted to the whole idea of recording and sharing movies you'll find that Tivo has some locks on some features that are useful. ... But if all you want to do is record some movies from OTA and play them once in a while in your living room, ... But remember that it is a PC so it is capable of way more than just playing HD DVDs.... Vista MCE has some media rights management built into it, but it has not stopped me from copying a movie to my laptop so I have something to watch in the airports while I wait for a flight. ...
