You didn't fully explain your scenario, and so that's beyond my area
of expertise - I'm mostly a web developer specialising in media
systems.
When you reference a "VM command" I assume you're referring to some
sort of universal virtual machine used for intercepting DVD playback
regions - I don't remember seeing that documented for WMP
Media player (and I guess any PC based player) is setup to interact
with mouse commands, and to some extent keyboard shortcuts.
I'm not sure how you'd intercept mouse commands from within an
authored DVD, but the WMP keyboard shortcuts are listed in WMP help
files, so it's possible that one of those is simulated for a mouse
click on a DVD menu region.

I am not integrating with Windows Media Player directly. I am simply------------------------------------------------

able to tell me what DVD VM command is sent when the Play button is pressed

Hi,------------------------------------------------
I am a software developer for High Power
Consulting, Inc. in Baton Rogue, LA. I
am currently working on a project for a
client where we create Video DVD's from
video stored in another application.
The question I have regards the play
button in Windows Media Player when displaying a
Title or VMG menu. Normally, the play
button on a consumer DVD player will do
one of two things. It will either
execute the FirstPlay command of the DVD
or it will perform an activate on the
currently selected menu button.
Windows Media Player does not appear to
do either of these.
If it does not do either of these, then
does it perform any action when
displaying a VMG or VTS menu? If so,
what action does it perform. My
ultimate goal is to get the play button
to begin playing the first chapter of
the first title when pressed from within
the menu.
Thanks,
