That is my point. If you use MP3 then you have the problem of a number of
differing versions of MP3 ID tags. If you use instead AAC or Apple Lossless
then you have a _single_ MPEG4 meta tag standard which I can attest works in
both iTunes and WMP (with plugin).
Note: If you fill in the Album Artist tag in iTunes the plugin (for MPEG4
tags) does read it and all the information like track number, genre etc.
My suggestion would admittedly involve changing the format of your existing
music.
You could consider trying the plugin with a single test AAC or Apple
Lossless track (created in iTunes) and an AAC and/or Apple Lossless
Directshow filter - also available free, and see if you are happy with the
reliability of the tagging being transferred.

I think your misunderstanding me...
I am using MP3 FILES... I am NOT using the APPLE format. I am using just the
normal MP3 file type.
Now, Let's say for example, in my iTunes Library, I have a song... It's
called
I Hate Windows Media Player
Artist + Album Artist: DJ Grunt
and its made in the year 2008, in the Country genre and its track number 2
from the 'I Hate Microsoft Bullcrap' album. It's meta information is in ID3
v2.4 format.
I 'add' it to my Windows Media Player library
It appears as follows.
Title: 02 I Hate Windows Media Player
Artist: DJ Grunt
Album: I Hate Microsoft Bullcrap
Album Artist: None
Year: Unknown
Genre: Country
Track Number: Unknown
Why the hell is the information missing when its obviously there?... it all
appears correctly if I get iTunes to convert the Meta to ID3 v2.3, WHY isnt
it appearing properly if its in V2.4
AGAIN, my question is... why doesn't Windows Media Player (Version 11) read
the Meta tags in v2.4 and reads it correctly when its v2.3. Is there a fix?
I known I sound sarcastic... Im just down right frusturated that I get an
answer that I have already seen when ive searched using google that was used
2 years ago... It's not a matter of iTunes AAC or whatever, I use MP3 and
that's all ill ever use...
Thank you for trying to help me, and again pardon the frusturation.

It is not completely obvious but I get the impression you are using MP3
files.
It is possible (obviously) to use AAC in iTunes on on the iPod. Less
obviously it is also possible to add AAC (and Apple Lossless) to WMP and
have it play those as well.
AAC and Apple Lossless (aka. ALAC) use the .m4a file extension and the MPEG4
file format (and MPEG4 meta tags). Since they use a complete different tag
format to MP3 files WMP itself cannot read them. This may actually turn out
to be good news for you.
In order to let WMP read MPEG4 meta tags, you need to install a third-part
plugin and there are two free ones available to do this.
See http://www.softpointer.com/WMPTagSupport.htm or
See http://wmptagext.sourceforge.net/
I have my entire music library in Apple Lossless ripped from CD using iTunes
and shared with WMP and use one of the above plugins and all the meta tags
work fine in WMP.
Note: These plugins do not support accessing the embedded artwork in AAC or
Apple Lossless files.

Hey Guys,
I use iTunes as my default media player and my Windows Media Player as my
360-Link, So I can listen to music from my 360... Now ive spent countless
hours (days?) fixing my library so they have proper tags + art, etc! (for my
iPod, Im a neat freak).
Now the art ain't so much of a problem... The titles are the big deal, it
can become extremely tedious sorting through your entire (2000 songs or so)
list on the 360 when they are all listed by track number and then their name
(file names?)
ANYWAY, the problem is in iTunes they are all automatically made into ID3
2.4 tags... Does Windows Media Player fully support ID3 2.4? because to me
it
doesn't... They have their artist names and stuff, but the title is wrong or
missing, the year is missing, but some info is there...
IF I convert the file to ID3 2.3 it appears properly in Windows Media
Player... so my question is this, is there a way for Windows Media Player to
fully support 2.4? or do I have to convert it to 2.3?
Thanks!
