My Music directory won't show up on the Library. Only .wma and .mp3
files are indexed. Is it impossible to make WMP treat .ogg files
like .mp3 files, so that I can find my .ogg files in the Library?

If one uses a player for the less usual audio files, including ogg, I
find the Winamp player to be the most convenient for my purposes. It
apparently is easier to write plugins for the Winamp than most other
players, so there are a huge number of audio plugins for it that
usually can be found easily by doing a Google search on something like
"Winamp plugin .ogg", or whatever. You usually do not have to take a
package of plugins, some of which you may not need, and some of which
may cause conflicts. I have added several plugins to my Winamp and it
now plays ogg, mp4, mpc, aiff, mp3, flac, and ape(Monkeys audio),midi,
etc as well as many of the formats associated with Microsoft, such as
wma, wav, and even wmv video. Winamp does have a library function
that you might like to check out to see if it will better meet your
wants. I do not find any of the player library systems suitable for my
rather special needs, so I have most of my more important music stored
using a simple library system that works best for my specialized
needs. Winamp is a free download.

Thank you for your reply. I used to use WinAmp a few years ago. Back
then my system was too slow to run WMP, and WinAmp was relatively
small and fast. WinAmp is free, and it contains tempting features like
smooth seeking (which I think WMP doesn't support), but I prefer WMP's
Library and it seems like WMP's Library integrates with the OS better
than WinAmp's does. As many people may think, I also think it would be
nice if I can play all the music on just one player than switching
between multiple players.

I think somehow I managed to display .ogg files in the WMP's Library
once, but I don't remember exactly what the configuration was. It
might be WMP 10 on Windows XP (now I'm on Windows Vista) and I
installed some different codec or plug-ins than K-lite codec pack.
Any ways, I'll wait a little bit longer if someonw knows how to do it,
or I think I might need to convert .ogg files into .wma, somehow.

I have a m3u playlist at http://www.cwdjr.net/souassorted/M3Uplaylist.m3u
that has 9 songs, each in a different format, that will play on
Winamp, although some plugins have to be installed to play all.
Starting with the first song, the file types are ogg, mp4, mpc, aiff,
wma, midi, mp3, wav, and wmv. If you have associated m3u with Winamp,
it will automatically come up when you click on the url for the
playlist. If a WMP ot some other player is associated with m3u, it
will come up instead. If you have not associated m3u with any player,
there is no telling what player, if any, may come up.

If you want to force the play list on a m3u capable player, copy the
url above. Then bring up the desired player. On Winamp you would find
a place under file to enter the url directly. On WMP you can do the
same thing. However on some versions of WMP, in some configurations,
you may not see the file tab at the top of the page. In the WMP 11,
for instance, you may find the WMP icon at the extreme left top of the
page. If you right click it, file and other things will come up that
will allow you to enter the url. If the player will not play a
specific file type, it usually will skip the file, or you may have to
click for the next song. Sometimes response will be slow in going to
the next song after passing one that can not be played.
