Re: WMP10 -- Sync always at 160kbps, regardless of settings

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

On a somewhat related note, my audio device (a SanDisk Sansa Express)
somehow became stuck at 320kbps whenever synching from WMA lossless audio
files, regardless of the current bitrate settings; oddly, audio files at
bitrates lower than 320kbps simply copied over to the device without any
conversion.

Fortunately, I was able to fix this by uninstalling the Sansa Express from
"Windows Portable Devices" in Device Manager, rebooting the computer and
then reattaching the player.

Still haven't had any luck with the SD Card synching at 160kpbs problem,
unfortunately. For some reason the little son of a bitch really doesn't
want to look at WMP user settings when converting and synching.

One correction to my last post:

When synching to an SD Card (through a card reader) WMP10 has _always_
modified the bitrate to 160kbps, on both computers, regardless of
settings. When I sync to my portable music player--which shows up as an
"Audio Device" in "My Computer" as opposed to a "Device with Removable
Storage" like the SD Card--the program changes the bitrate appropriately
according to WMP settings. I had the two slightly confused when I posted
yesterday.

This really isn't a big deal, it's just kinda goofy and inconvenient.
Something is telling me that it's a simple fix, and I haven't yet looked
in the right place.

Anyone have ideas?

For some reason, whenever I sync to my SD card devices, media player 10
always converts the WMA file to 160kbps. It used to do 192kbps, but
after fiddling with the settings it seems to have gotten stuck at
160kpbs. This happens regardless of what the "Select quality level"
slider under the "Quality" tab is set at.

To make matters worse, I have recreated the same problem on another,
separate PC. Both systems are now always converting to 160kbps, whether
they are set at 32kbps, 128kbps, or 192kpbs.

Has anyone run into this before?
