Re: MY GOD!!! What's Wrong with Usability Testers on This!

The thing with the iPod (and the Zune for that matter) is it's a
closed system - Apple don't release appropriate software kits for
developers to hook the device. In many cases it's left to revese
engineering to work this out.

As you've realised, WMP doesn't have iPod support - though it does for
many other more 'standard' MP3 players which appear as removable hard
drives.

Mediafour and MGTek both produce software for using WMP to sync to the
iPod - http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/ and
http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/

Alternatively you could use the Apple supplied solution, iTunes which
of course is shipped with your MP3 player and should provide
guaranteed compatibility (as well as CD ripping features at the same
level as in WMP)

I have to say that whoever is programing usability on Media Player,

Am I the only one that can't figure out how to use media player
software? I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to copy music
from a cd to an mp3 player. The music gets copied to the pc, it seems,
but doesn't give me the opportunity to sync. It seems like every time
I try to use some kind of media software there's a usability issue.

I'd like to just be able to transfer a cd to my mp3 player (ipod mini)
without having to jump through hoops. It's not just ipod, it's
everything. I don't want an mp3 player to copy ALL the music on my
hard drive to my mp3. Can't I just put the music I want to transfer on
my mp3 in a folder on my pc an sync it? For some reason that seems too
much to ask.

Media players, in whatever form they take, seem to think that they
should scrutinize my entire drive and get every piece of music
available to sync to my mp3. I just don't get it! I'd like to be able
to choose what goes on my mp3 and where. I'm sure if someone came out
with a system like that they would dominate the market. I can't be the
only use who's so frustrated with the way mp3's interact with pcs.
