It seems like i have mad a valid comment on this matter and you don't want
to
answer it, in which case it just confirms my suspicions that Microsoft are
having difficulty meeting the end users needs in the long run.

Respectfully, you're asking a question (Why Doesn't Microsoft Makes Codec
Packs) which is a complete tangent to solving your problem. I'm generally
forbidden by legal to discuss licensing issues, sorry, and so I need to move
on from that question. Hopefully you can respect me enough to realize I'm
solely trying to help you with your problem and not trying to publicly
debate some larger issue.

What's the COM Surrogate error's crash data? =)

will help you look that up.

When Windows Vista was released after over 5 years and a development
reset,

Yes, I have a Ship-It award for Vista in my office. Vista is largely
irrelevant to your specific broader question here of how Windows handles
pluggable extensions such as codecs and file filters. Of course that's of
monumental interest. However, I don't think "debating" that - especially on
more obvious suggestions - is an effective use of either of our's time. The
suggestion is noted.

Even through all the i remained faithfull to the os, I hate Apple, have
never touched Linux and i was a beta tester of the software via Microsoft
Connect and most of the time when i ran into a problem, it would come back
unreproducable, I submitted a valid bug check and it was a while before it
was fixed.

I don't know anything about this issue that you're referring to. I am not
involved in that other process.

Example: you say you hit a COM Surrogate error. I would like to be able to
reproduce that so I can perhaps fix it. Hopefully this puts me in your
"good guy" column. But without your data, I am stymied. Could you perhaps
help me here? I would appreciate it. I don't promise anything, but I would
like to provide a good faith look into the issue, which seems to nicely
reconcile some of the discontent you have had. =)

So before you go all petty how about thinking which side you are going to
support before you do, Microsoft is a great company but they need to think
long and hard about currently released os's before releasing new ones

Yes, I continue to contribute towards making currently released and new
Windows OS better and more stable. Sounds like that's the kind of publicly
available developer that you want to help by providing requested repro data.
=)
