They are Discus and Shput videos I downloaded. The majority of them .wmv
While some of them are .avi. The avi play.
The good news is, after fooling around I got my music and videos to play, I
just don't have any sound now. However, when I try to install a Conexant HD
audio device the one what I had originally, I have the same problem I started
with.
Now I'm wondering if there is perhaps way I can get sound either by using a
different driver or using the current driver I have without getting this
error?

OK so what sort of movies are these ?.
Did you get them on DVD disks, are they file downloads, or perhaps AVI
files, MPG or MP4 files, or WMV files, or .... ?

I recently started getting an C00D36B4 error code whenever I try and play
movies in windows media player. I tried using the web help, but none of their
solutions solved my problem. I also noticed I can't play any music in iTunes
now either and I was curious if they where related (a sound issue or
something)
If you go to windows Control Panel (Start -> Settings -> Control
Panel) and then choose System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Can you see anything listed under sounds and video game controllers
with a red X next to it ? It could be that your sound card driver
software isn't installed properly.
There should be some related tips on this page about that :
