Sort order in the shell doesn't matter at all. It's the click point of the
mouse event. This is a feature of the shell. Even in Details view in
Explorer, you're right-clicking at a given point. That given point
indicates the desired first track in the list that the shell hands to the
player. ?

I just noticed this post from a few weeks back, all I do is go into
explorer and highlight all the tracks (which are sorted in the order I
want to hear them), then right click and select play.
I've checked a bit further and the way they are ordered is like this

10,11,12,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9

However the filenames looks like this (and are sorted in this order)
in the UI. This happens for every single album I just tested. If it
has less than 10 tracks, the sort order is correct.

The sort order WMP gets is based upon what the shell gives it. It starts
at
wherever your mouse is at event activation (when you click on "Play all
these") and is ordered by whatever your current view sort is.

I don't use the library, I simply use file manager and highlight all
the mp3s i want to play, right click and select open. when media
player opens i want them to sort by filename by default but it sorts
them some other way currently. is there a way to change the default
sort?
