Re: WMP 11 Vista will not start

Zach I'm having the same type of problem. I downloaded DIVx player to get a
codec. Should I uninstall DIVx player? I tried to Run "jscript.dll and
vbscript.dll" and now Media player doesn't work under Admin.....How do I post
all that .dll stuff so u can take a look at it.....Why did MSFT make this so
complicated ;-(

That isn't helping any.

If you run cmd.exe As An Administrator, then execute:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
and
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
in that cmd.exe prompt, and then use the Adobe Flash uninstaller to
uninstall Flash - and then reinstall it from their site, does the player
then work?

No, as I said earlier, wmplayer.exe does not appear in the task
manager -
it
will not start, even in the background, unless I run as administrator

When I attempt to run WMP 11, by opening the exe, opening the
shortcut,
opening a media file or attempting to autoplay a dvd or cd, it will
not
open.
I have checked in the task manager and it is not running. However,
if I
run
it with administrative privliges, it will open. This seems odd,

considering that the exe itself or any shortcut I create has all the
compatibility options including run as administrator greyed out in
the
properties menu. I am running the latest version, have the latest
windows
updates and hardware drivers and I haven't installed or uninstalled
any
software recently (The problem seemed to start with no catalyst).
