Re: asx won't play (similar issue)

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thanks for your reply, and a Happy New Year from Belgium!

I regret your suggestions have not led to a breakthrough... Here are my
current settings in the Network tab, with the live stream still dead as a
dodo:
-- Protocols --
RTSP/UDP ticked
RTSP/TCP ticked (no ports specified)
HTTP ticked
-- Multicast Streams --
Allow ... ticked
-- Streaming proxy settings --
HTTP => Browser
RTSP => None

Thanks in advance for having another go. By the way, no go also with my
firewall switched off.

Running WMP 11 (build 6344) on Vista, and unable to play the following stream:

WMP gives the following error message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the
file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

The 'Web help' option at the bottom of the error message window links to a
MS page which tells me I have encountered error C00D1199. Nevertheless, the
same page mentions that WMP 11 supports both .asx and .asf formats.

Explanation and solution would be much appreciated

If you go to Now Playing, choose More Options from the small dropdown
menu below that tab, then go to Network : You should have both TCP and
UDP checked (TCP is what's needed here, for RTSPT playback).

Also it's best not to have anything listed in the RTSP "Proxy" box
below that - click it, hit the button and change that to No Proxy

Does that help any ?
