Thanks for your reply Neil.

Typical website:
http://atvs.vg.no/player/?id=13570
(A norwegian newspaper. Its Norway's most visited domain!)

I dont think the remote server is the problem, becouse this works fine from
other computers. Including my second PC, wich by the way is connected thru
the same router.

My network i cabled. The router is a D-link DIR635. Running latest firmware.

Therefore i belive it must an software issue...

What's a typical web page with a link to video that exhibits this
issue ? It's quite possible the remote server itself isn't able to
delivery the video at the rate you need to consume it.

Failling bandwidth use through the life of a clip (in the Statistics
pane) is perfectly normal. WMP usually prebuffers some content - in
many cases a streaming media server can over-send the video data
initially at up to 2x the required bitrate for playback.

You might eventually see the bitrate in use drop to zero - that's also
the case if the statistics panel shows CACHE instead of RTSPT or HTTP
as the protocol in use. To be able to repeat those tests you'd then
have to delete the temporary internet files in IE's cache.

If the D-Link router is wireless to your PC, what's the effect of
using a direct network cable connection to it ?

I've also heard of some routers which claim to be UPnP but aren't,
which drop the connection for when certain streaming protocols are
used through them. For examples see these pages :

I feel i have tried evereything to solve this problem, so please help.

I have 2 pc's. No. 1 is ok. no. 2 is not ok.

So no.1:
Running winXPsp2.
Streaming from websites works fine using quicktime but not using wmp11.
(Some sites offering clips both with QT and wmp11)

It may be ok for a few seconds, but then "Bandwith in use" starts dropping.
Available bandwith is much higher. Typically it drops to 100kbps. Actual rate
(video) shows from 0.1 to 1.4 fps!! (Frame rate is 25fps)(Info from
"Statistics")
So the video update picture only from time to time.. Sound works perfect.
This is not related to one site. All sites offering clips with wmp is giving
this problem.

My internet-line is 10Mbit up and 10Mbit down so this should be enough.
I have tried to stop all firewalls and put my PC in DMZ (de-millitarized
zone) in my d-link router.
I have reinstalled wmp11.
I have tried several options regarding protocols etc.
Video playing works fine from local hd.

Can anyone give me any tips?
