Re: WMP 11 won't play streaming video.

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

That page works with any version of the player that works. Yours is just
sadly partially broken right now.

If you run:
regsvr32 wmp.dll
and then go to Internet Explorer's Tools:Manage Add-ons and make sure WMP is
turned on, does it work?

Dear Zachd

I clicked on the page link you gave me and it told me Windows Media Player
wasn't installed, even though I was playing a CD on it at the time! So I
took
the CD out , left the page, went back to it and it still told me it wasn't
installed. Then I noticed - I don't know if this has any true relevance -
it
only worked for version 7.1 and I've got version 11.

I don't know if the URL works in the standalone WMP, because I don't know
how to find the address bar in WMP11! They seem to have done a pretty good
job of hiding it. I know if you do CTRL-U to bring an address box up -
dunno
if that's the same as the address bar, I'm pretty much out of my depth
here
I'm afraid, I'm not a real computer person! - and type in www.lordoftv.com
you get the following error message:-

Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play,
burn,
or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file
that
has been moved, renamed, or deleted.

Yet if you access one of the online music shops that show up in WMP11, it
finds them fine. Which means it must have an address bar hiding
somewheres.
If you tell me how to access it, or make it show up, I'll see if going to
lordoftv through it works.

If you know another online TV site, I'll try that, too. So far, the only
other ones I've found have been Oriental, accessed through an interesting
piece of kit called TV Ants. Which would be great, if only the stations
were
listed in English somewheres! You get a list of LOADS of stations and you
don't know what any of them are because Google Languages - unless I'm
using
that site wrong, remember I'm a complete noob! - won't translate the
station
page.

I have found the occasional good football match on TV Ants, though. Most
of
the other stations are in Oriental, don't know which language but it's
definitely not English.

Do you think I ought to try a different version of Windows Media Player,
or
a version of 11 downloaded from a different site?

Yours puzzledly

Chris

Happy New Year, by the way!
