I think that you're pretty much out of luck on this. In the Windows Media
Player FAQ from Microsoft it mentions that if a license is needed for your
self-protected files, Windows Media Player would refer you to some unlisted
website to get a license. I've never heard of anyone actually getting such a
notice; I'd love to get the URL or instructions if anyone ever does.
In the mean time, try reading this:

will explain how you got to where you are and how to avoid it in the future.

I get the following message when I try to play all of the music files on my.
PC which is strange. I ripped these from CD to my portable hard drive and
they used to work fine. They will play fine on my wifes PC, but not on mine.
A license is required to play this file
The file you are trying to play was ripped (copied) from an audio CD.
During the ripping process, the file was "protected." This limits the number
of computers on which the file can be played.
To play the file on this computer, you must download a license (a process
known as "license migration"). A license acts an electronic key that allows
you to "unlock" a protected file and play it.
To download a license for this file, click Download License.
I have no idea how to proceed. When I click the "download license" it is
not available - I get the following response -
The license cannot be downloaded because the license has already been
downloaded 10 times.
For more information about protected files and license migration, see the
Windows Media Player FAQ page.
