See this to display the Now Playing tab in the Now Playing view:
http://www.dalepreston.com/Media/windows-media-player-faq.aspx#nowplayinglist
Once the Now Playing panel is showing, the current track is displayed in a
slightly lighter shade of blue than the rest of the list. It isn't easy to
find but it's there. Once found, you can right-click and choose Find in
Library to see exactly where the track is coming from.
Also, in the player controls at the bottom of the Windows Media Player
screen, the name of the current track is rotated through along with the album
name, composer, etc. You just have to stare and wait long enough to see what
you're looking for. It's a real pain in the neck.

how do I locate what file is playing on Windows media player?.
When I press the start button music starts, but I have no idea where in my
library it's coming from.
Help.
thanks
