Re: error when play avi. file

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Was there any resolution to "D AL MON"'s problem? I'm encountering the exact
thing:

"I can't plan clock.avi. I get the same error. The only thing I can tie
back to when this started was when I upgraded to WMP v11. Prior to the
upgrade everything was working fine."

I usually can watch the first half of the .avi, then the screen goes blank.
I don't have any other .avi viewers installed, except Nero Media Player. It
doesn't play the .avi's either - regardless of the source. Any help would be
appreciated!

You're on XP, so: what happens if you run mplayer2.exe and try to play the
AVI? I'm presuming DirectShow is broken on your system.

What else was installed to this system? I'd be suspicious that some third
party stomped on the AVI filter set...

Same thing over here and no, I can't plan clock.avi. I get the same
error.
The only thing I can tie back to when this started was when I upgraded to
WMP
v11. Prior to the upgrade everything was working fine. I tried
downgrading,
but that didn't fix the problem... Any help would be appriciated.

Just some particular AVI files or all AVI files? Does
c:\windows\clock.avi
play on your system?

That's "Error Class Not Registered". Knowing what the scope of that
error
is (file format limited? codec limited?) will be illuminative as to
where
to turn next.
