Re: Getting error on all audio/video played, just happened for no

I actually found out what it was, I needed to do a run command to fix my
network/file sharing.

The icon on the taskbar on the bottom right hand corner for Vista had an "x"
on the computer, even though the internet was connected and the network was
fine.

I searched around for a solution, it turns out other people with Vista had
this problem as well, I had to open up "Run" and type "cmd", then in the
prompt I needed to enter a command line to get Vista to recognize my internet
connection again, I'll look for it again, I forgot where I found the command
prompt.

Anyhow, it fixed the problem with my audio/video files.

Thanks for the replies guys

Wow, everything else is broken too? Can you System Restore back to before
this broke?

Does dxdiag.exe report any errors?

They're .avi files, .wma, .mp3, .wav, any video files. It's weird, It just
happened so randomly. I don't know why it's acting up.

I left my computer on over night, everything was working, the next morning
I
wake it up and none of the media files will work for me.

Also if I try to open them in quicktime, winamp, zoom, divx, they won't
play
at all either. And I can't stream audio from sites like NBA.com anymore
(It
has a Windows Media Player bar to play the audio) but streaming video from
something like ESPN.com, works perfectly.

I'm confused on it all

Hey guys, I've been able to open my audio and video files on windows
media
player 10 for a while, but until today I've been getting this warning
on
all
of my files, this is what happens

Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use,
you
might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your
proxy
settings might not be correct.

Not, the files are not in use when I play them, I have access to them
on
my
computer because I am on my computer with no passwords or restrictions,
and I
haven't changed my proxy settings for this to happen.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening all of a sudden? I
can't
figure out why this is happening and it seems to have happened to a lot
of
people who download and watch anime or video files.

Thoughts?
