You won't be able to play flash video in media player, sorry !
If your files end in .flv then they might use On2 VP3 or VP6 codec, or
H264 in the most recent flash player beta. If you've downloaded a file
ending in .fla then it's an actual flash player file rather than the
video itself.
Typically, I'd suggest using real player 11 to do this, it will let
you download and play back youtube and many other video formats by
putting a convenient button in a web page that video's playing in.
