Because when I open test.wmv by other player, I see SAMI subtitles and
can handle it with DVobSub through icon in system tray?
And can handle programmatically sending messages to window "DVSWND"
WM_DVSSHOWSUB and WM_DVSHIDESUB.
Thank you for link, but I use embedded ActiveX control
AxWindowsMediaPlayer, and cann't apply "On if Available" option.
I test various WMV files on many machine and everywhere same result -
no subtitles.
Get any wmv- and smi- files and try open with WindowMediaPlayer and
WindowMediaClassic. DirectVobSub must be installed (or other subtitle
filter like FFDShow).
Thack you for you interest.

I have installed Windows Media Player 9 and DirectVobSub on my
machine.
There are follow files in directory: test.vmw and test.smi
When I open test.vmw by any video player (exept WMP) I saw subtitles
and icon in system tray (DVobSub (auto-load version).
When I open this file by WMP, I don't see subtitles and tray icon.
When I open other file (exampe test.avi) with WMP, I see subtitles.
Therefore, bug in WMP and VMW. Can you help me?
DirectVobSub doesn't handle SAMI subtitles, they're generated directly
by media player.
Did you enable captions and subtitles in media player itself ? See :http://www.captionkit.com/switchoncaptions.php#windowsmedia9
I'm not clear about "Therefore, bug in WMP and VMW" because you didn't
provide a sample SAMI file which can be tested and shown to be
defective. All I can say is "works for me" because it does.
