Re: PC doesn't see Xbox 360... Hope someone can help...

I am having the same issue with my Media Player. I've opened the necessary
ports, yet it continues to do the same thing, which is act as though it is
searching for devices to share with, only for nothing else to happen and the
OK button going from greyed out to selectable again. I had ZoneAlarm on as my
firewall, and turned it off to open the ports using Windows Firewall. Has
anyone else come up with a solution to this issue?

Per the docs:
"If you are using Windows Firewall, the required Transmission Control
Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports are automatically
opened when you turn on media sharing. If you are using a different software
firewall, you might need to open these ports manually."

It tries. =)

I wonder why Windows Media Player 11 won't open these ports automatically?
Will opening these ports from the link make my network more vulnerable?
Thanks for the link.

I followed the directions on Xbox.com website to try and stream media to
my
PC. I have Windows XP Professional and SP2 is installed along with the
latest
Windows Media Player 11.

When I click on the Library Tab and go to Media Sharing... it brings up
a
box that lets me check "Share my media". I click OK. After a couple of
minutes the screen never changes and OK is not greyed out anymore. I
never
get to the screen where you can select what devices you want to share
with.

Anyone had this problem before?

Make sure you have set the Firewall on the PC to allow connections fro
the XBox to media player. Instructions for doing that are in the FAQ :
