Re: Ripping music, loss of end

No, the skipping problem is separate but affects a lot of people with
Dell PCs, some Gateway and some Sony machines. It's a problem with the
audio drivers supplied with Sigmatel audio cards.

This article details the fix :
http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&thread.id=6860

Specifically you want to update your audio driver software to the most
recent version available (from the manufacturers website). Then step 2
is to disable audio enhancement as detailed in the article.

The skipping is usually about 20 seconds or so from the end of the
track, it should stop once you disable enhancements.

Well, I had crossfading on and that was the problem, it would cut-short the
tracks so they didn't flow smoothly like on the CD. Now with it off, they
flow but have a skipping sound in between. Is it that the player can't play
track after track with no skip? Thanks for the help.

I've been ripping songs from CD's but Media Player ends up cutting off the
end of songs in between tracks. It's frustrating when songs run together in
between tracks, such as Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and others. Is
there a way to have smooth transitions between tracks without the loss of
songs? Thanks.

Go to the Now Playing menu, choose the small dropdown menu below the
tab, choose Enhancements, "Crossfading and volume levelling" and turn
on crossfading. WMP won't crossfade CD tracks, but can do once you've
ripped them to local digital media files.
