Ouch ouch ouch ouch. Please don't just run wmfdist11 / wmp11 . Those have
always been a subset of what the player does. Running those I believe is
going to result in data loss in about 20% or higher of scenarios. There's a
really good reason why there's an installer package wrapping all of that.

If you run the wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu installer package directly, you will
be much much better off. =\

FIXED: REINSTALL WMP11
Download installer here:
http://www.download3k.com/Windows-Media-Player-XP/Download-Free-wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe.html
You can try running the wmfdist11.exe first and then the wmp11.exe
executable second. I just ran the overall setup and it worked fine for
me.
You will need a VALID copy of Windowz XP.
