Re: Playing Video Files and Codecs

Well, the thing is, I attempted to play this particular video when I did not
have the correct codec installed, and now, with XVid installed, it still will
not play, while the other files, of the same type, I have no problem playing.
I'm not sure if that is significant, however...

Can you point me to a clip showing this problem? What other third party
codecs do you have on the system? It sounds like you may have another
decoder which is preventing XVID from working properly...

Well, it takes me to

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?ID=C00D10D1&codec=xvid

which then directs me to

http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?&codec=xvid

so I have already downloaded the XVid codec...but my file still doesn't
work.

Also, what happens when you click Web Help? What URL does it take you
to?
What information does it have there?

Hi, I use Windows XP and Windows Media Player v. 10, and am having
trouble
playing .avi video files. It says "A codec is required to play this
file.
To
determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click
Web
Help.", error message "C00D10D1," and even though I have downloaded and
installed the codec supposedly necessary for the videos, they still
will
not
play. What should I do? Thanks!
