Re: Cannot repair DRM components in Vista WMP11

I followed that article the first time, and it didn't work (hence my postings).....
HOWEVER
My aborted / rolled back Windows Reinstall ('upgrade' over the top of the old installation) has somehow managed to fix the problem. I have just turned on my machine for the first time since the reinstall which I attempted last night.
Checking the Technical Support Info in 'Help > About' in WMP showed that a DRM and Indiv Version had re-appeared. They were NOT there before I attempted the reinstall.
I then went to the Music Player sidebar in WMP11 and tried playing that track I bought yesterday. A window with a 'padlock' came up saying something like 'To play this file some files need to be updated'. I pressed 'OK' (of course) and WMP downloaded some data. And, miraculously, the music played!
So, an aborted and rolled back Windows Reinstallation doesn't actually return you to the same state you were before - it clearly resets some things in the process.
However, for the stress I went through last night I really wouldn't recommend this course of action to resolve your DRM problems.......!
For additional information, during the day today I found that others have had the same soft of problems as me with DRM failing after they upgraded their CPU (as I did recently, from a P4 HT to a Pentium D). Although Vista appeared to cope well with it at the time, it would appear that the DRM system isn't up to this sort of hardware change.
If MS are reading this, you really should check out the DRM systems ability to cope with CPU upgrades!
Thanks for your assistance in the meantime.

I did find your webpage from looking at previous postings. Unfortunately the
command to re-individualise did not work.
In the WMP Technical Information accessed from 'Help>About' both the DRM and
Indiviualisation entries are totally blank, which isn't good.
I have found how to bypass the Greyed out button on the Upgrade Security
Components page to go straight to the update weblink from other postings, but
WMP couldn't 'play' the file.
I even bought a music track from the MSN Store in the hope that playing it
would re-initialise my DRM, but it did not work.
It seems impossible to rebuild or even create a new DRM store from scratch.
As a final resort I tried reinstalling Vista last night but that failed as
well, and I had to rollback to my previous installation.

is my previous write-up of how to reset the store. Lemme know if that
answers the question or not. =\
