When trying to fetch album information i get "redir
metaservices.micrpsoft.com" this program cannot display teh webpage.

Probably because the servers were just revamped. Please be temporarily
patient.

When running media player the "wm_setup.exe" has to run every so often to
install something. I turned OFF all possible automatic procedures like
update from the player configuration and yet it runs this mosule endlessly
and pointlessly.

That's the AutoUpdate check--
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#autoupdate
has how to turn it off.

How often does it run for you? It shouldn't run more than once per every
time period you specify.

Installation of the mediaplayer 11.0 has crippled my zapit "iepg" online
service to conveinantly record TV shows .

I don't know what that tool is, nor how WMP could have broken it, nor how it
is showing up as broken.

From these items I deduce that installing Windows media player 11 has made
some core changes to my Internet explored that has damaged there OWN album
information service as well as other online services that need to
interface
with your system to relay key data to apps that are requesting it thoutgh
some IE interface.

The album information service was revamped for everybody in all players on
the server side.

Or is it possibly that Microsoft is now piping all Windows media player
though a site on there server "initated by the wmsetup.exe which seems to
be
running all the time" to gather information about the users but at the
same
time have a bug in routing this information to the third partys like the
album service and iepg?

No, setup_wm.exe is really boring as all heck. I know all of that code. It
does not do anything with WMP's internals or album data or etc. It's the
Setup aspects of Windows Media only.

You see I've known MS did this kind of stuff in the past and drove me
crazy
then also. But from reading all this forums messages on metaservices
crippling and no feasable working fixes are available makes me think that
MS
is up to its old trick.

Naw, it's just a server revamp in a complicated area. Patience please. =)
