Re: Problem With Adding Files to Media Library

Ah, I thought so. You're using the wrong tool for the task. Windows Media
Player does not have WAV metadata write-out. You will never be able to edit
the track data for these in Windows Media Player and have it stick.

If you want to edit the track information for these tracks, you should
switch to any other file format, all of which have much much better metadata
/ tagging support.

If you want to keep using WAV, you would need to use a third party tool if
you wanted to edit the metadata here. I am unaware of any useful place in
Microsoft code that supports metadata write-out for WAV (RIFF - AVI too)
files. =\

You *can* edit this data and have it stick *once* in Windows Media Player 11
when you rip an Audio CD (and only an Audio CD) to WAV, but that is the
entirety of all WAV metadata editing that I'm aware of.

What file format are these files?

ejdodson here:
They are wav files.

I repeated the search process again. This time Media Libary retained the
files and I have not had a repeat of the problem. I still do not know what
caused the initial problem. I have done one thing differently; I have been
opening (i.e., listening to) the wav file while doing the online search
for
the album cover image and library reference. Whether this has had a
positive
impact on the result I have no idea, but the initial problem has not
occurred
again.
