As you said I have tried the diagnostic start-up mode. Still I am asked to
validate my window and the validate icon is not active. But the link to
"microsoft genuine advantage statement" is live. If I try to roll back to
WMP 10 from "Add/remove porgrams", first I get the message "Windows media
player will be rolled back to the previous version that was on your computer.
Do you want to continue? If I click ok then the windows open with the
message
"If you roll bakc window media player to the previous version that was on
your computer, other programs that require the player may be affected, and
you may need to remove and then install those programs again. Are you sure
that you wan to continue?"

If I click ok it does not respond. So It does not roll back it does not
validate!
Very frustrating!

Seems strange to get a validation tool message when you tried to uninstall
WMP 11.
I think it would be very difficult to remove just the WMP 11 files manually.
I suspect that System file protection would simply replace the files you
delete with a copy of the same thing. When you uninstall WMP 11 normally
each file is replaced by its previous (WMP10 or 9) version and Windows
configurations altered to reflect that.

I missed to tell you that when I tried to remove media player 11 it was in
the "Add /remove program" list but I could not remove it by clicking
"remove". I used to get message that "windows validation tool will not

Now I have reinstalled WMP11, and again come back to where I started. It

not active. However on the same window the link to "Microsoft genuine
advantage privacy statement" is active as always and I can also close the
window by clicking the cross on the upper right hand corner but cannot
validate the window. Frustrating.... very frustrating.....

If none of WMP appear in "Add/remove programs" and there are some left
overs from WMP11, do you have any idea where I can remove these left overs
of
WMP11 to get rid of it completely and roll back to WMP 10.

You ran the validation tool diagnostics so the tool is installed and
functional. Validating Windows and/or MS Office (IIRC) was part of the
diagnostic so I presume you did that. You try to run the WMP version
that
is
on the computer, get a validation box but cannot proceed, or you try
to
install an update, get a EULA acceptance box and cannot proceed. The
only
thing left that I can think of is that the scripts for these two
popups
are
being blocked by something on the computer, but the diagnostic should
have
identified that, at least for anything blocking the validation tool.
You
can
reduce the IE security settings to minimal, turn off any pop-up,
script,
worm blocking features in IE, your AV, anti-spyware and firewall
software.
Beyond that I'm out of ideas.

You were right these three updates were located at more than one
place.
Any
way before confirming that I installed them again. I have also run
the
validation tool but the problem is still there and the media player
does
not
even appear in "Add/remove programs list". What more I can do?

Just to add that in my list of "Add/remove programs" Microsoft
validation
tool does not exist. However there is Windows genuine advantage
validataion
tool but it can not be removed from there because it has no
remove

It identified damaged or missing updates for me in the past and
I
was
able
to reinstall just the ones that were needed.

The MS validation tool can be uninstalled using Add or Remove
programs.
To
see the entry for it though you need to put a check mark in
"show
updates"
in Add or Remove programs. Reinstall it from Windows Updates.

SP2 can't be uninstalled as far as I know. Ordinarily it would
be
installed
from Windows updates as well but you can download a copy (it is
a
huge
266MB file!) from the site below. See what Belarc says before
you
try
downloading and installing this.
