Re: Can not roll back to media player 10 from 11

To reinstall SP2 do I need to unistall it first and how can I proceed to
reinstall SP2 and MS validation program. Where will I find them?

I accept that your Windows is genuine, however some of the files you need
for the validation to work could be damaged or missing. WMP 9 is part of
Windows, it shouldn't need reinstalling. IE security settings, or sometimes
AV or firewall software can block Windows updates but I don't know of any
off-hand that block validation. You can try turning those things off though
and see if it helps. Otherwise I suspect you may need to reinstall SP2 and
the MS validation program.

I have checked in the add/remove wiondows components WMP is ticked there
but
infront of it it shows 0.0MB. I tried to install WMP9 but I got the
message
that a WMP already exists so I could not install that. If I go to
"programs"
from "start menu" the WMP icon is there but if I click it I get a window
asking for validation of Windows but the "validate" icon does not work.

I have also checked in the c/program files/WMP there exist three files
with
WMP icon. If I click "setup_wm" it asks me to validate windows which does
not
work. second icon is "wmplayer" if I click it it also asks the same. the
third is "wmsetsdk" if I click it it asks for accepting the licence
agreement
where "accept" icon does not respond. Is there any way I can get rid of
this
validation problem. By the way my window is genuine.

If WMP10 wasn't automatically restored after uninstalling WMP11 then WMP
9
should be on the computer and (hopefully) functional. One version of WMP
is
always there in XP, so does WMP run at all? Whether there are icons
displayed for it or not you can check in Add or Remove programs in the
left
hand column under "Add/Remove Windows Components" to see if Media player
is
set to enabled.

Yes I scroll down to the end of the agreement but there was nothing to
select or tick. I have windows XP home edition.

Did you scroll down to the end of the agreement?

I upgraded to media player 11. When I tried to play it, it asked me
to
validate my windows and when I clicked the "validate" icon it is not
active
or it does not respond. I tried to roll back to media player 10 and
uninstalled "media player 11", "media fromat runtime 11" and also
Microsoft
User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0.0. Now when I try to
install
media player 10 again it asks me to accept the agreement but when I
try
to
click "accept" the option is not active. Can someone help me to get
rid
of
this problem and restore my media player 10? I will be grateful.
