Yeah -- I got my problem fixed, where WMP 11 wouldn't open. It seems that.
when it was installed on the computer, the default for it was to save files
to a playlist (which it shouldn't be as the user should decide if any files
are to be saved to a list). Somewhere along the line that playlist got
corrupted (and I didn't even know I had one as I never use them). I followed
this from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925718
took out the files they suggested, and set my options to not save any files
to a playlist. Now my WMP 11 works again every time I reboot.

It seems we found another different program that cause the hanging of WMP on
Vista.
I add another possible cause of hanging: I add an USB multicard reader (sd,
mmc and so on), with no added software or driver.
When this piece of hardware is connected WMP do not start when I ask for,
and I had to stop wmplayer.exe process on task manager if I want WMP work
properly.
Since in past time I had problem in managing some USB hardware and with the
built-in audio chip after installing Vista due to a motherboard not
certified with the latest Microsoft O.S., I start believing that maybe that
problem could be connected with the same hardware problem...
My motherboard is an Intel PERL D865 working with a P4 processor, and my
audio card is a Creative Soundblaster Audigy.
What's your?

My Windows Media Player 11 on Windows Vista Home Premium operating system
stopped working in the middle on a day more than a week ago, for no reason
at
all. I've discovered that if I uninstall one of the Windows automatic
Updates
(picked randomly) and reboot, it will work again until I reboot the
computer.
Then it doesn't work again. So, then I reinstall that same update I had
uninstalled and let it reboot, and it will work again. At the next reboot,
it
won't work -- so I repeat the same procedure back and forth. As I am
usually
on the computer all day, I usually only have to either uninstall or
reinstall
the update in the morning. So far, the randomly picked updates have been
KB933579 and this morning I tried a different one which is KB935652 and
it's
working now. But, if I shut down the computer and reboot, it won't work.
Then, I'll reinstall KB935652 and it will work. I'm getting really tired
of
this procedure.
