Try to make sure you do this with a brand new (unscatched) CD, to see
if it's disk dependent.

I have 5 or 6 cd's copied to Media Library and all songs from all cd's skip.
Also, when I simply play these cd's in cd rom; no skips noticed.


Also go to WMP Tools -> Options -> Devices -> Properties, select the
CD drive and ensure "use error correction" is selected for rip and
playback, as well as Digital playback and copy are selected.

My sound card is analog only. Get an error when trying digital as your
instructions above.

One final option is to make sure you boot your PC clean, and that no
background software is running, before trying only media player on its
own. That PC spec should be more than adequate for media playback, but
sometimes long running high-CPU tasks might drag it down.

Yeah, could be background apps. Will try the clean boot.


To check that, start Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL then task manager)
and inpect the Processes list, or the Performance tab to see if the
CPU is in use nearly 100% when the skips happen.
