can download songs to my mp3 player? HELP

It may actualy work without the CD. Try starting media player first.

Then click on the "Sync" tab in media player, which will probably show
no devices detected. Next, plug the MP3 player into the USB socket.

Watch media player closely, and see if there's any actvity in the
right hand panel - specifically, if your device shows up as "Siren" or
some other generic device name. Try to sync a couple of files if it
shows up, then play them on the MP3 player to see if they converted OK
