I tried more CD's, never could get one to burn in WMP. I then tried burning
a CD in Nero and it burned successfully, actually 9 in a row. Went back to
WMP and tried one and it did the exact same thing as before and failed to
write to the CD. I have tried several patches to WMP and none have worked.
I will try to send this message to the HP techs to see what they can tell me.

I am experiencing the EXACT SAME problem!! I have an hp840 dvd burner, and.
everything has worked fine until the past month or so. All the songs are
prepared but then after 1, 2, or 3 songs are burned, the disc finalizes and I
get the message that vkjp is getting (below). I have uninstalled Sonic,
Nero, defragmented my hard drive, set the burn speed to the slowest setting,
disabled startup programs, turned off my firewall and virus protection,
uninstalled and reinstalled my burner and wmp 11 (reverted back to version 10
with no improvement), and have done a host of other things to simplify what
is on my computer. Still this problem continues. VKJP - what kind of burner
are you using?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have the same thing happening. External HP dvd 940 usb writer. I burn
CD's for church. I have done over 150 CD's and worked every time. I got the
error message and did try another brand. No Change. Changed Speeds; it
wrote 1 out of 7 different CD's. Rebooted - no change. Defraged hard drive -
successful. Still no burn. Used the same CD 5 times and watched it prepare
the playlist. The message changes to pending, while the burn percentage
increases, then the WMP 11 program states that the CD is 99% burn while the
Ext USB burner has not lighted the green light and the cd is not turning.
The the message that the cd is bad or not compatable. Then ejects CD. WMP
always sees the cd and states the remaining time left on CD. Finally went
into options and Devices tab, checked allow video files to convert in the
background and audio files checked. Finally burned that same cd that I had
tried the previous 5 times. One other note, I had the burn speed set to the
slowest speed 3 of the 5 times and no result. On the last burn the speed was
slowest but when it burned, it burned with clock speed like it was set on the
fastest mode. I would like a tech to reply to this oddity.

Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc

try a different brand of blank discs.
have changed speeds, changed CDs but the message still perists.
